Nowadays, we all like to getting things for free, while at the same time, we want others to pay for what we have to offer. And how can we overcome this paradox? Honestly, I'm not sure.

If you are seriously interested in making some money on Internet, you most definitely need to make certain investments. Invest your time of course, but surely some money as well.

To believe that becoming rich overnight is possible, without making a single investment, would be, I'm sorry, but rather naive. On my first marketing page you will find some offers on different marketing tools, as well as some serious marketing ideas.

Internet-Marketing

I have been in the business of sales and marketing for a long time now, and I would have to say that the approach to Internet marketing follows some different guidelines in comparison to "normal marketing". Everything seems to be taking place in the USA. In Europe, on the other hand, (I am from Austria, and that is why I may say this) the scene is rather poor, with few exceptions of course.

At first, I was amazed to find an enormous number of sites and articles on the Net, as far as sales and marketing goes, just so later on I would be annoyed by them. And now finally, I just laugh when I look at most of them.

There are thousands of sites like mine. But I would have to say, without being arrogant, that the content of at least 80% of them, is just one page with a number of banners with "the most fantastic offers". And I'm not kidding you. You have probably seen it yourself while surfing the WWW (World Wide Waiting). "Earn $10.000 each month for just 5 hours/week"

As long as they don't ask you to spend any money to take part in their "get rich instantly" program, sometimes it might even be interesting to check out some of them at least.

Whenever you are being asked to pay even a dime, now that is hen things get serious. The smaller the sum, the more you can be sure you will never hear from them again. (If you want to know more about scam on Internet, check out the article, from an expert's standpoint, in my newsletter.) Some of this sites are really well done, with some great arguments. But have in mind, that criminals are professionals at what they do as well.

Besides, (almost) all serious business programs (i.e. affiliate programs) are free of charge. And would you ever apply for a job, where you would be asked from your new Boss to pay an annual fee of, let's say $500. I hope not!

That's not how things work in the real world, and surely that's not how things work in the cyber world. In fact, only 5% of the sites out there are actually making profit. So, what everything pretty much boils down to, is that you somehow need to get within those 5%. And how exactly do you do that?

You should follow these very important steps:

1. No persistence - No success!

You are a dreamer, if you honestly believe that you can make some big bucks, by only working a few hours a week! Just keep dreaming. Without spending some time on the Net (you have a lot to learn) and some time each day working on your ideas (your site won't create itself) you won't get too far.

Unless of course, you are a distant relative of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sigmund Freud (two Austrians btw). But you're not.

2. Offer valuable content!

Only offering a good product, isn't enough. A number of different banners is nothing. Ask yourself, what kind of sites do you like. You personally, would also prefer sites with a lot of information. Sites where you can learn and entertain yourself as well.

Visitors also like some free offers, services, or a small gift. The better content you have, and the more you have to offer, the more visitors will bookmark your site and come back. As long as you are not an owner of Coca Cola, you should do so.

3. Register you own domain name!

nobody will remember. And of course, how serious do you think you're customers are going to think you are, if you couldn't afford to spend a small amount of money to register your own domain name. It's like a company with only a PO Box for an address.

Long domain names (like the first one) are available since Dec. 6th 1999 (with .com, net, .org). Here you can check a domain name for availability, as well as register it.

The great advantage of long domain names (max. 67 characters including .com) is that you can easily include some of your keywords there, which of course is beneficial when it comes down to better search engine rankings.

This is, by the way, the newest Internet hype. Immediately after long domain names became available, I received quite a few emails from some top Internet marketers, informing me about it, and strongly suggesting me to register immediately, because after a few weeks, as they stated, the best domain names will be no longer free. What a nonsense. Good sales technique though.

I must confess, I hurried to register a domain name myself:

Beautiful, isn't it? I put all possible keywords in, and we'll see whether the search engines will honor it or not. OK, this beautiful domain name is gone, but if you would make just a minor change, i.e.

www.joes-free-internet-service-marketing-email-web-design-graphics.com

you would have one yourself. Try it here!

4. Look for a reliable ISP!

You need a professional host if you want to succeed. With ISPs providing you free web space, you will only have problems. It's rather annoying. You never get a response to any of your emails, and your visitors will have them pop-up windows and banner advertisements.

Here are some of my experiences with different ISPs(coming soon). You can either choose a provider in your area, who's nose you can personally tweak, or you can go with a someone who's got a good reputation of being a team of professionals at what they do.

Here are some good offers I've came across. Please note that I haven't had any personal experiences with them myself. My provider happens to be in Berlin and it probably would be too far for most of you.

5. Put your site on the Net and promote it!

You've spent a lot of time designing your site, you've written a good content, and it's on the Net. Now what? Time for some seriously hard work.

As you probably already know, you have to submit your site to search engines, right? There are sites that would do this for you as a service, or you could do it yourself. Keep in mind, that about 95% of all searches are made through the top 20 search engines, which are

If somebody offers you to submit your site to 9,999 search engines for a certain fee, forget it! You would be wasting your money. Do it yourself, or use my professional service. HERE you´ll find more informations.

Experts would advise you to make submissions to the top search engines each month manually. However, most search engines don't like it, if you try to do this too often, especially, without any updates to your site..

It would be a miracle, if your site would reach a top position right at first (among the first thirty or so that is, because only such a position really counts). There's a lot of discussions about search engines out there. This is it's own special science read more about here.

Right now I only have one advice on how to spend your money! You either you hire a company to do this for you, or you buy a specialized software. WebPositionGold is one, and $145, which is it's price, is a bargain.

Submit your site yourself to 1500 search engines and FFA-pages, post your ad in minutes to hundreds of sites and some other very interesting products (also in German, French, Spanish, Japanese!) Go to Trellian, a must to see!

But the search engines are of course not the only way to advertise on the Net. There are plenty of other marketing tools available, i.e. message boards, news groups, FFA-pages (I did some research on FFAs, and you can read it in my newsletter), classified ads, etc.

For all this there's software available. Some are free, some you have to pay for. Power Submitter is just one of them. It will send your ads to 400 sites automatically in no time. Try to do this manually, and see how long it would take you. It would simply be waste of your time.

Or, like I said earlier, hire a company to post your ads to some well known newsletters. Anyhow, use your creativity. It makes the best results !

And most important - get links ! As many as possible ! Some possibilities are shown here.

6. Work on your site!

When I take a look on my very first design - eegeeee. It's rather unbelievable, how once I was perfectly satisfied with that rubbish (but this is another story I'll write about in my next newsletter, subscribe here)!

And of course I'm not talking only about the design, but also content, services etc.

Your site always needs improvement. Your competitors do it, so you must do it too! Remember, you must be within the best 10% in your industry, in not just one way. Then, and only then can you expect profit.

You'll never have your site completely finished. Neither do I. But I like it the way it is, and I hope you do too. So go on, have some fun and a lot of success !
